The Prologue is set in 1974, the year Conor Wasson the principle character was born.

It is the scene of a Belfast street riot, letting the reader know of the life Conor was born into. The opening chapter is set in the present in an English prison. Conor is coming to the end of a 6-year sentence for supplying drugs and is now in a category D, open prison awaiting parole. The resettlement officer is Julie Cougan- a beautiful twenty-six- year-old who had been educated in Boston Mass.

Conor reminds her of her lost love, American football star, Lance. Conor is immediately smitten by Julie’s beauty and an ‘improper’ relationship forms.Conors best friend is Mick Gorman, an ex-solider. Mick is from Dublin and joined the British Army. He served in Afghanistan, teaching the Mujahidin to use Stinger missiles against the Russian helicopters. But Mick was caught using heroin and left behind in Afghanistan to fend for himself. He was in prison for robbery.Conor tells Mick his secret and Mick is not impressed- he warns of the consequences of Conors actions, but none of them have any idea of how deeply in trouble they are.Julie confides in her twin sister Simone, who speaks of ‘the secret’ with her friend- the- soon-to-be-imprisoned, gay child killer Dominic.

Dominic’s time in prison is not good and he uses ‘the secret’ to get an easy ride, but Conors past life as a terrorist in Belfast is soon uncovered and the British Secret Intelligence Service get involved. The probe reveals that Conor was involved in a plot by the IPLO to steal cocaine on-route to the loyalist paramilitaries- the cocaine being supplied by the British to finance the war against the IRA. There is violence in and out of the prison as Mick is re-enlisted to deal with the problem. The story takes our principal characters back to Ireland and a head-on confrontation with the SAS, IRA and undercover intelligence agents all trying to deal with Conor and Co, and the cocaine- which is still in Conors former girlfriend, prostitute Mary Armstrong’s flat.Drug-dealers in England await the arrival of the cocaine and have hatched their own plot.

The stories are all pulled together for the final showdown- but who walks away with the money?
